What are the options?
Today, there are many options to replace the old Windows 7. For the average user, there are only two possible options: windows 8, the newer windows 10, or, for more experienced users, the flood of so-called Linux distributions, i.e., switching to Linux.
Windows 8
However, this operating system (OS) is already eight years old. If you are thinking of purchasing one, think carefully about whether it is worth the investment. In an increasingly fast-paced era, Windows 8 will soon take on the same role as Windows 7 does today, and your investment will have been wasted.
The price of the system depends on the version and whether you are buying a stand-alone installation or along with a desktop or laptop.
Windows 10
its release dates back to 2015. Therefore,it is the latest versionof the OS offered by Microsoft and should already be considered for purchase. The expected usage period would be about 10 years. The only drawback may be that this software demands the performance of the computer. Along with Windows 10, it often requires the purchase of new hardware, i.e., a new PC or laptop, which can be a hurdle for many people.
Linux
Linux distributions offer a wealth of features and applications. The majority are completely free and allow you to choose the system that best suits your requirements. Distributions for older computers can be freely downloaded over the Internet, so there is no need to buy a new computer. You can also choose between 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
The community surrounding Linux distributions is very large. Updates are provided almost daily. Perhaps the best known are Ubuntu users; Ubuntu has many other offshoots, such as Bodhi linux. Why did I take up this linux? I myself was faced with the dilemma of what to do next. So I opted for a very simple and agile system that suited me perfectly and was good enough for my old laptop.
