Information technology is a very important field in today\’s world. Especially because it makes work easier, eliminates mountains of paperwork, and makes communication faster. This field has long been dominated by men. It is not uncommon for small and medium-sized companies to have no women on their IT staffs. According to general figures, the utilization rate in this sector is 81% vs. 19%, with the former clearly outnumbering the men. Among the participating countries, the Czech Republic was the lowest, followed by Hungary.
In addition to the above, the survey conducted by Ipsos also revealed how Czech companies are performing in the area of digitalization. Specifically, using the term “digital companies,” at least 80% of the subjects were able to say at least broadly what they were. Most of them said it was the digitization of computer-related activities and documents; three-quarters use at least one modern technology in their daily operations, mostly the Internet of Things, online marketing, and the cloud. The last, the cloud, refers to the remote delivery of services and programs stored on a provider\’s servers.
Despite the negative results of the Czech Republic\’s ranking, the survey revealed at least one positive piece of information: 83% invest in modernizing their companies and 41% invest in digitalization. While the latter figure may seem small, it at least indicates that Czech companies are interested in digitalization. One-third of them invest in employee training in this area.
We also found that company departments communicate electronically. However, companies are not yet working to unify this system. Half of all companies still communicate via e-mail.
Businesses and companies also indicated that they are already ready to communicate electronically with the state administration (80% majority) and expect to save time. At the same time, however, they question whether the public sphere is ready for digital communication.
