Winter is not one of the most popular seasons. At least in terms of daylight hours, frost has been fairly rare in recent years, but it still gets dark early, it is cold outside, and it rains or snows. Snow, in particular, complicates transportation even when it doesn\’t accumulate as much. Given the country\’s road conditions, even a few centimeters of powder can cause considerable problems. Therefore, snow and ice are chemically treated. On the one hand, this is a good solution, as it allows the roads to be used sooner. But on the other hand, it can be a disaster for many cars, since the combination of water and salt does not have a very positive effect on the metal parts of any car.
If you don\’t want to survey the damage in the spring and know you don\’t need to use the car at all costs, you can do winter repairs. It\’s not a new thing, and many people do it, not just in our area. In Scandinavian countries, where winters are much harsher than here, for example, it is common for people to leave their cars on ice during the winter. However, if you leave your car unattended, it will still start to deteriorate due to the weather, in which case ice is a much better solution. If you want your car to rest during the winter, you need to winterize it. There is no need to worry about the difficulties. In fact, it\’s a simple task that can be done in an afternoon.
Most importantly, find a suitable place to put your car. A garage is ideal, but if you don\’t have one, you can always leave your car in the yard. Before putting the car away, however, all fluids, including gasoline and oil, should be checked. Also, the wheels should be disassembled and the entire car, including the body, should be inspected for corrosion before the tarp is put on. If there is corrosion, even in a small area, a grinder should be used to clean the damaged area.
