According to an annual survey of crime statistics published by the Czech Republic Police, the number of stolen cars has decreased by 80% over the past decade. Despite these favorable statistics, it is prudent to pay attention to vehicle security, as approximately 3,500 vehicles are stolen each year in this country. The most frequently stolen vehicles are Skoda, followed by VW, Ford, Renault, etc.
Car manufacturers also play a part in security, and immobilizers have been standard equipment for years. While it must be admitted that no protection is perfect, ideally a combination of several security methods can make a thief\’s job considerably more difficult: GSM signal jammers and other burglar tools are relatively common on the market, and in extreme cases a car can be loaded onto a trailer and driven away. In extreme cases, they can even be loaded onto a car trailer and driven away.
Mechanical security in the form of locks on gear levers, steering wheels, pedals, and wheel boots is no longer widely used. In the past, they were meant as a deterrent against casual thieves.
Alarmshave gained a bad reputation for issuing false alarms and constantly harassing those around them. In reality, however, thieves usually cease their activity when an alarm is activated, and a well installed and coordinated alarm does not disturb neighbors; there are alarms with GSM modules that notify car owners via SMS.
Secret switchesare relatively highly efficient and stop the starter motor or fuel pump. It depends on its location to avoid easy detection. It can be made very inexpensively, and the ratio of safety to price is perhaps most favorable here.
GPS, GSM systemscan be complemented with various sensors to locate the vehicle. It is very important here that the system be installed in a hidden location so that it cannot be easily found and removed from the vehicle.
Satellite trackingis usually connected online to a security service dispatch center. If a car is stolen, the latter, in cooperation with the police, can immediately initiate a search for the vehicle.
The most effective way to secure a vehicle is to combine the above methods while making the most of non-standard locations in the vehicle.
